The New Place

20 05 2009

Here are a few shots of the soon-to-be Thornhill homestead. The ones with furniture are of the model home. And, in the interest of full disclosure, we didn’t think about documenting the construction progress until last weekend, so the ones where the walls are most unfinished are of another home that’s about a week or two behind ours in the construction phase.

So, where is this snazzy place, Mike?
I’m thinking about doing the time trial at Marshall this evening. Ever done it?

It’s Creekside Village, between Lake Louise and Stoney Knob. We’d been following it since they announced plans, hoping to be able to buy in. Then the building process dragged out for about a year (or it sure felt that way, at least) longer than they first told us. Plus, seeing what had been a beautiful wooded tract of land bulldozed temporarily had us thinking twice about being part of it. But it’s a perfect location for us, the price is relatively reasonable (at least for WNC), and rationalizing that being part of a higher density development is better than being part of the one-acre-and-a-McMansion sprawl that’s taking over the mountains all combined to lead us back.
